NETCOM is a non-profit training organization and the Telecommunications / Low-voltage training arm of the IBEW Local 213. Our courses are open to any individual or company looking to improve the quality of their product through crew training. Our mandate is to offer the finest skilled trades training possible, supporting official accreditation and a strong Communications industry.



IBEW Local 213 represents approximately 5000 members in British Columbia. We invite everyone to register and create an account. Once registered, you can enroll in any course that becomes available.

Career Opportunity: Telecommunications Instructor
We have an exciting opportunity for a telecommunications instructor to work out of our Port Coquitlam training centre. You will be involved in the instructing of NETCOM course curriculums including Broadband Network Construction and Fiber Optic Association accredited programs such as Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT®), Certified Fiber Optic Specialist – Outside Plant (CFOS/O), Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT) and many more.

Qualifications:
• CATV or Broadband Network Journeyman accreditation or successful completion of Common Core Electronics program
• At least 2 years of practical experience in the telecommunications field
• Experience with fusion splicing and fiber optics is considered and asset
• Comfortable with public speaking
• Always performs work with safety on top of mind and adheres to all safety requirements

Job Description:
• Instruct telecommunications theory and lab exercises to classes of up to 14 students
• Courses are typically 2 days to 5 days in length
• Operate and demonstrate the use of fusion splicers, TDR, OTDR, Network Data testers, RF Meters and other telecommunications test equipment as required.
• Maintain accurate student records for submission to partner organizations 
• Various other duties as required
